Hwy 27 Road Closure Update:

The zoo will continue to be open to visitors daily during the Hwy 27 road closure beginning July 29, 2026.
There will always be access to the zoo from the north/ Hayward.

08/20/2026 update: Work as started on the culvert directly next to the zoo before opening hours. Hwy 27 is down to one lane, but the zoo remains open and there is access to our driveways. Visitors can still access the parking lot via Hwy 27 or Fun Valley Road.

08/03/2026 update: A hard closure has begun between Boylan Rd and Rays Rd as they begin working on the sound end of the project installing the first culvert. This means there are barricades closing Hwy 27 on the south end. Please follow all detour signs. It is expected to take approximately 3 weeks for the culvert work to be completed.

07/29/2026 update: Roadwork has begun and is currently a soft closure as contractors are out staking, saw cutting, and setting traffic control. Traffic coming from the north/ Hayward has no traffic restrictions to the zoo while there are closures coming from the south/ Stone Lake and visitors to the zoo will need to follow the detour signs.
