Wilderness Walk Zoo Camp will be educational, entertaining, and zoo-per fun!

With multiple options, we are sure to provide your camper with the perfect zoo camp experience! Choose from one of our 4 - day camps, one day camp, or a combination.

Camp Fee:

Registration:

  • Each camp week has a maximum of 15 participants.

  • There will be one main instructor with additional staff that may assist.

  • Registration requires signed legal waivers for each camp participant.
    *Please list on the registration form which camp session your child(ren) would like to participate in.
    All spots are first come, first serve.

  • Full payment is required to save the camper’s spot, along with all signed waivers. Cash, check, or Venmo is accepted: @WildernessWalk are accepted.


Cancellation and Refund Policy:

Cancellations made more than 3 weeks prior to the start of the camp session will receive a refund of 75% of the program fee. No refunds will be given less than 3 weeks prior to the camp session. Refunds will not be issued for no-shows regardless of the cause.

Drop-off and Pick-up:

Participants will be dropped off in front of the ticket entrance between 9:45-10AM, where the parent/ guardian must sign-in the camper every day.  Participants will then be picked up in the same location between 3-3:15PM, where parents/ guardians must sign the camper out every day.

What to wear:

Please send campers in weather-appropriate clothes each day, if it is raining please bring a raincoat and boots. 

  • Long pants are preferred, but we recommend shorts over shirts or dresses.

  • Close-toe shoes that are comfortable for walking.

  • Zoo Camp T-Shirt

Zoo Camp T-Shirts:
These t-shirts must be worn everyday!

Zoo camp participants will receive one free t-shirt with registration. T-shirt sizes must be specified during registration. Extra shirts may be pre-ordered at a cost of $15 per shirt. No exchanges are available.

Note: For the safety of all camp participants, Zoo Camp T-Shirts MUST be worn each day. The shirts will enable instructors to keep campers together while walking throughout the zoo. Shirts will be distributed on the first day of camp. If a camper arrives without their shirt, they will be given one to wear for the day and may be charged the extra shirt fee.

What to Bring:

  • Backpack with extra pair of clothes (just in case)

  • Sunscreen 

  • Filled reusable water bottle

  • A full stomach. Zoo camp is a ‘high energy’ activity; so all campers should eat a hearty breakfast before arrival. Campers are on the move and exploring the zoo all day. 


What NOT to Bring: 

  • Jewelry, electronics, cell phones, and valuables 

    • Cell phone and other device use will not be allowed during camp time. In the event of an emergency, parents may call the main zoo line at 715-699-1442 or the main instructor at 715-558-8380. Zoo camp is an opportunity to make new friends and develop important life skills.

  • NO toys or fidgets 

Lunch and Snacks

  • A nutritious snack will be provided in the afternoon. No snacks should be brought for the children.

  • An optional lunch meal plan can be added for an additional $40 for the 4 - day camp or $10 for the one day camp.

    • Lunch meal plan includes: brat, hotdog, or corn dog with a handful of original ruffle chips, and water. 

  • If you do not choose the optional lunch plan, parents/ guardians need to pack a sack lunch for your child.

  • If your child has any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please pack your own snacks and lunches.

Food Allergies 

We cannot guarantee a food allergy free environment at the zoo as visitors often bring their own food items. Please disclose all participant food allergies during registration.

Medication Needs During Zoo Camp

Camp Instructors do not administer medication. If your child has special medication needs, you will need to make plans accordingly. 


Medical Procedures 

First aid will be administered to campers with minor scrapes, cuts, bumps and insect bites. People are often unaware of allergies to wild animal dander or bedding materials. In these situations, we have Benadryl on hand. Please specify on the registration form if we can give your child Benadryl in these situations. 

Behavioral Expectations

All campers are expected to behave in a safe, respectful, and courteous manner. In the event of behavioral concerns, corrective measures such as temporarily removing the disruptive camper from the group and/or consulting a parent/guardian may be used. Should a camper’s behavior become a major distraction or is dangerous to others, the camper will be removed from camp and a parent/guardian will be notified immediately. The Wilderness Walk Zoo staff reserves the right to remove a camper from camp at any time. In the event of removing the camper, there will not be a refund issued. 

Illnesses

Wilderness Walk Zoo reserves the right to refuse entrance to zoo camp if a child exhibits symptoms listed below. In the event a camper becomes ill while at zoo camp, camp staff will notify the registered parent/guardian. For the well-being of your camper and the safety of other campers in our program, if your child(ren) shows any of the following symptoms, you will be asked to pick up your child(ren) immediately.

Symptoms included but not limited to: fever, severe headache, persistent cough, sore throat, vomiting, pinkeye, lice, and other contagious illnesses. A doctor’s note must be provided before the camper with signs of any contagious illnesses or lice may return to camp. No refunds will be issued for any missed days of camp. 

Special Needs:

Please detail any physical, academic or social special needs your child has that our staff should be aware of. Special needs will be accommodated to the best of our ability. All considerations, it is not possible for us to offer one on one attention. If your child is not self-sufficient, you will need to provide a non-parent or parent aide for the week of camp.


How to Reserve Your Spot

Complete the registration form and either mail or email to the corresponding location stated at the bottom of the form. Full payments must be made to reserve your child’s spot. Once registration forms and payments are received, you will get a confirmation email from our staff.
