Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Wilderness Walk!

We welcome enthusiastic volunteers that have a love for animals and a passion to serve our community. Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a variety of experience, skill and knowledge. There’s no experience necessary to help out! We can teach you what you need to know.

FAQs

    • Please wear weather-appropriate clothing each day. If it is raining, please remember a raincoat and rubber boots.

    • Long pants are preferred, but we recommend shorts over skirts and dresses.

    • Close-toed shoes that are comfortable for walking.

    • Backpack with an extra pair of clothes (just in case).

    • Sunscreen

    • Filled reusable water bottle

  • We cannot guarantee a food allergy free environment at the zoo as visitors often bring their own food items. Please disclose all food allergies during registration.

  • First aid will be administered to volunteers with minor scrapes, cuts, bumps, and insect bites. People are often unaware of allergies to wild animal dander or bedding materials. In these situations, Benadryl is on hand.

  • Volunteers are expected to behave in a safe, respectful, and courteous manner. This opportunity is a fun and educational experience as our volunteers are asked to help lead in the education of our campers. Should a volunteer’s behavior become a major distraction or is a danger to others, the volunteer will be asked to leave the premises. The Wilderness Walk Zoo staff reserves the right to remove volunteers at any time.

  • These shirts must be worn every day to identify Camp Volunteers!

Zoo camp participants will receive one free t-shirt with their registration. T-shirt sizes must be specified during registration. Extra shirts may be pre-ordered at an additional cost of $15 per shirt. No exchanges are available.
